Entertainment: Pattichio Municipal Theatre - this is 5 minutes walk from Yiayia's House - a variety of cultural events are held here throughout the year. Rialto Theatre - another indoor theatre with a variety of cultural events - also within short walking distance of Yiayia's house. Rio Cinema - located at 125 Ellados Street it is seconds away - most movies are in English with Greek subtitles. Historical
Limassol archaeological museum – houses artefacts found in local excavations (20 minute walk)
Limassol Castle - 5 minutes walk from Yiayia's House. The original castle was built by Guy de Lusignan in the 13th century and was later rebuilt by the Ottomans. Kolossi Castle - this iconic stronghold on the outskirts of Limassol was built in the 13th century. Amathus - this is an ancient Hellenistic city on the eastern side of Limassol. - The spectacular ruins of this ancient Greek city-kingdom lie to the
west of modern Limassol. The Roman amphitheatre has been restored and
is used for open air performances. (20 minute drive)
Events
The Cyprus Rally - An annual WRC event,
which starts and finishes on the Limassol seafront, 10 minutes walk
from Yiayia's House. The next event is scheduled for13-15 March 2009. The Limassol Wine Festival - An annual event held at the local municipal gardens in late August to early September (about 20 minute walk). The Limassol Carnival -
The largest and most spectacular carnival organised on the island
annually, culminating in a large parade through the city's streets. Kypria Festival - An annual islandwide cultural festival, with events in every city including venues in Limassol.
